Image Search and Recognition Software

Designing software to support US Patent and Trade Office copyright lawyers improve their processing efficiency and ability to detect similarities among copyright images.

While on this project I conducted Subject Matter Expert (SME) interviews, gathered functional requirements, designed interface wireframes, and edited and recorded voice over for a demonstration video. During the SME interviews I identified the current image processing procedures used by copyright lawyers and where and how an image recognition service could benefit their process. From these interviews, I gathered, and reviewed with stakeholders, functional requirements necessary to develop the recognition software. Once requirements were agreed upon, I designed a series of interface wireframes, reviewed and iterated upon them with stakeholders, and delivered them to developers for implementation. Finally, I supported the creation of a product demonstration video and recorded voice overs.

Electronic Health Record Modernization

l have continued to support the VA’s Cerner Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) deployment effort. I operate on this project as direct support to the Director of Emerging Technologies.

The nation-wide deployment plan for VA Cerner EHRM’s 10-year, $10B effort. This work is being done in multiple phases, with multiple teams coordinating asynchronously and remotely to see the projected completed.

Accomplishments as an Independent Consultant:

  • Interviewed Subject Matter Experts in support of a USPTO initiative to improve their copyright image processing

  • Designed a proof-of-concept interface to conduct image search and similarity analysis
